Good afternoon.

Right now, I’d like to discuss some of the things that you (guys) already familiar and it called a flannel shirt.

The word “Flannel” comes with many pronounce. Europeans called it “flannelette”. The French coined it “Flanelle”. And the Germans? They removed that extra “e” but kept the extra l for “Flannell.

The definition of the flannel shirt, according to the Wikipedia :

"Flannel shirt" is often mistakenly used to refer to any shirt with a plaid or tartan pattern, rather than a shirt constructed of Flannel fabric and as the Flannel it’s self, is a soft woven fabric, of various fineness. Flannel was originally made from carded wool or worsted yarn, but is now often made from either wool, cotton, or synthetic fibre.

We now know that flannel shirt has been going through many phases.

1) Originally made to be wear in a cold weather and  very cheap, but  became popular in America with the invention of union suit, which is a one-piece long john and gradually it became a woman and man’s underwear at the year of 1890.

2) Time goes by, and flannel shirts became a standard men’s underwear in a cold weather and for working men (blue collar men). When the first world war broke in 1914, flannel shirts was used as uniforms for soldiers and bandage for medics.

3) In 1950, flannel shirts became an important part of American culture. It was Paul Bunyan who became a role model who is always wearing a red plaid flannel shirts. Many man interpreted it as a symbol of equal, so they always wearing a same flannel uniform in their groups. Flannel shirts for man at that time has many function and mean : it was comfortable in most climates, bold, distinctive, male independence and sense of the right stuff for men.

4)   Final phases, which turn a flannel shirts into a uniform of masculinity in modern world. It was Kurt Cobain, the legendary Nirvana singer who made a whole generation of men to adopt the flannel shirts.

My Review

Awal pertama tertarik dengan judul ini karena ngebaca sinopsis dari dari buku pertama. Sayangnya cerita yang saya baca malah buku ke-2nya dan yup... Tiger's Curse merupakan buku pertama dari rangkaian Tiger's Saga yang dipublis pertama kali oleh Colleen Houck pada tahun 2011. Sekilas memang mirip dengan Twiligh's Saga Stephanie Meyer. Tetapi yang membedakannya adalah isi cerita yang sarat akan mitos-mitos serta gabungan dari legenda yang berasal dari India, Cina, dan Yunani/Romawi. 

Menurut Saya pribadi, suasana romantisnya agak keterlaluan dan dapat membuat wanita yang menyukai hal romantis bisa begitu jatuh cinta akan cerita dan pemain yang ada dalam novel ini, khususnya Ren dan Kishan. I Really love the poems. Banyak banget puisi-puisi menarik yang mengangkat tema dari filsuf dan penyair-penyair klasik khususnya Shakespeare (khususnya dibuku pertama). Pengarangnya pinter banget memasukkan berbagai macam unsur yang saya yakin pasti butuh waktu untuk meneliti dan menyatukannya menjadi sebuah cerita yang menarik. 

Tetapi, menurut Saya (lagi), cerita dalam novelnya terlalu ideal sehingga cerita seperti ini mungkin hanya dapat kita temukan dalam film. Yah...namanya juga fantasi-romance, kalau jadi cerita nyata bisa-bisa aneh banget. Dengar-dengar karena kesuksesannya, Hollywood telah membeli hak cipta dari novel tersebut untuk dijadikan film dan akan direlease (mungkin) tahun 2015.

Julie Plec (screenplay dari serial hits The Vampire Diarie) telah didapuk sebagai penulis screenplay film Tiger's Curse. Jadi saya anjurkan, lebih baik baca novelnya dulu sebelum film ini kemungkinan akan jadi hits dimasa depan. Itu juga kalau yang membuat film menemukan pemain dan atmosfer yang tepat sesuai dengan novelnya sehingga juga  dapat mengulang kesuksesan seperti yang telah didapatkan oleh Twilight Saga.

Karena saga, pastinya buku dari karangan Colleen Houck ini jumlahnya sampai 4 nomor. Belum lagi katanya mau dirilis buku ke-5 yang berjudul Tiger's Dream tahun depan. Buat yang males baca buku yang berkelanjutan, mending diurungkan saja daripada udah capek duluan baca buku pertama tapi ga bisa berhenti penasaran untuk tahu cerita kelanjutannya kayak gimana. Buat yang memang suka baca, ceritanya memang bikin nagih dan rasanya fresh banget. Kenapa ? Karena banyak novel-novel terkenal yang lebih banyak memasukkan unsur-unsur budaya barat. Sedangkan novel Colleen Houck walaupun ada budaya barat, tetapi ceritanya berfokus pada budaya timur khusus India dan Cina.

PS :

Last for not least, my overall rating for the Tiger's Curse book is : 8/10. I like reading it in it's real language, but if you're interest, you can found it in a local bookstore with an Indonesia translation. There were only Book 1, so far... So what are you waiting for, just go and grab it.

Good evening.

It's already been 2 month since my last post about bb cream review. That's because I've got a new hobby for my self and kind of drowned in it and Yes...the hobby's called nail art.

I've decided to write again because someone encourage me and that someone want to read my new writing. But still...it's very hard for me writing a post in an english language but I'll try my best for not disappointing everyone who read my blog. Fyuhhh...

Do you remember, when you was a little kid in kindergarten, your teacher ask you to draw everything that excited you in a plain of paper and ask you to give a color u liked in the picture ? What do you feel ? 

For me, I was very happy and feel a lot of excitement about what kind of picture I wanna draw and what kind of color I will give...That feeling is still exist until now, specially when I'm doing a nail polish for a nail art. 

Yes...yes...that's the feeling I get when I'm doing a nail art *well...I'll bet the majority of the ladies feels the same too.

Nail polish is just like a crayon, they have so many color and pattern. But the different is you can applied it on your nail. So I think a nail polish is a crayon for the ladies. The source of happiness for woman *if you know what I mean... 

My first attraction comes from my roommate whose done her nail polished with a burgundy color. I see that, and feeling fascinated, I think "how come a small amount of color in your nail can boost up your mood just by seeing it ?". Then I decided that I've got to do it too.

This 3 brands (Revlon, Nyx, and Oriflame) can be purchased from the local market. If you're looking for the perfect red color, try using revlon. They've got so many various red with many-many shade but have limited color beside red. For the perfect matte nail polish, try Nyx. It's looks very natural in your nail. From my observation so far and what I can get, the brand only have 2 kind of red color. But the remaining other color have many. Oriflame brand for me it's kind of difficult to combined, specially with other brand coat. 

I forget to tell that before you put a polish in your nail, it's very important to use a base coat. The coat have a function to protect your nail from the polish hazard. So it can't be absorbed into your nail directly and plus it makes your nail very smooth thus the polish can easily be swap through your nail. For the coat I'm using a super top speed 60 second base coat from Revlon. Here's the pic :

Now, a lot of coat in the market already has a double function, base coat and top coat, so you don't have to buy another coat for the top. Just use the same coat for applying top coat after your nail being polished. The top coat can protect your polished nail so it doesn't scratch easily and makes your nail more shine. But I'm warning you for not using nail polish for more than 1 week. After all the hazard still not safe. 

When it's done, you will be satisfy with the result. The excitement was real and plus you don't have to go to the nail art salon with amount of price you can minimized by doing on your own at home. Another positive thing, by doing your own nail art, you can practice for your creativity in creating cute pattern and combine many color. Happy nail art-ing :)

Today, I would like to tell you something to be called BB Cream. 

What is BB cream anyway ? 

According to wikipedia : 

"BB cream stands for blemish balm, blemish base, beauty balm or beblesh balm (apparently because of a trademark in Korea on the word "blemish"), and in Western markets, beauty balm. It is a cosmetic item sold mainly in East and Southeast Asia, although larger beauty brands are increasingly introducing BB creams to Western markets."

"BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation, and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturizer, over serum and moisturizer as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage"

For the last couple of month, I've been try using it to replace my moisturizer or my loose powder and also because my friends introduce me to. 

The product line is called BRTC.  BRTC is the skincare and makeup product line from Korea. Why's Korea ? The product it self was made with a purpose to make woman with Asian type of skin looks better. So, I think the best way to choose which skin care product are the best for Asian woman like me is...choose an Asian line because it was made for Asian type of skin *but if you want to try another line, like western, I won't judge ^.^'

There are few types of BRTC BB Cream I've been using, but my favorite among BRTC goes to Jasmine Water BB Cream. Here's the pic :

Jasmine water BB cream is a triple function BB cream with whitening, wrinkle care, and water replenishment functions. It has SPF 30. But since the price is a quite expensive, I   just bought the sample which you can get it on online store with only @5.900 rupiahs.

It has a light texture on my skin, with a very pleasant smell *I think jasmine... and it really cover up well, not very thick, but it makes my face a little bit shine...

Things I don't like is after a few hour, I've got a small acne shown up in my face *since my skin type is normal to oily *maybe I'll have to use BRTC for troubled skin...*

And it wipe out easily with water so you have to put it back in a few hour.

Well, that's it for my review I think since writing a blog in English language it's harder than  speaking ^.^' I will comeback later with many more topics and writings.

Mie Des [Kuliner Jogja]

Mie Des [Mie dari ketela]

Posting kali ini saya akan merekomendasikan kuliner khas dari kota Yogyakarta yaitu Mie Des Bomber yang terletak di daerah Pundong, dekat jalan raya yang mengarah ke pantai Parang Tritis. Saya lupa jalan Paris kilometer berapa. Pokoknya patokannya adalah pom bensin terbesar yang ada di jalan raya dengan tulisan PARANGTRITIS di sebelah kanan dari arah utara. Dari ringroad sendiri, hitungannya 3 kali ketemu lampu merah, pom bensin sebelah kanan, kemudian beberapa meter dari pom bensin, ada jalan masuk ke arah kiri disebelah kiri jalan. Lalu masuk, masih sekitar 1,5 km lagi sampai ketemu mini market sebelah kiri jalan, dan sekitar 100 meter dari mini market, sebelah kanan jalan ada rumah. Disitulah tempatnya.

Jam bukanya hanya dari setelah magrib sampai jam 12 malam. 

Mie Des adalah mie yang terbuat dari ketela atau singkong *tapi saya belum tahu cara pembuatannya...denger aja, baru-baru*

Penampakannya :

Penyajiannya ada 2 macam yaitu goreng atau rebus. Menu yang saya coba adalah mie des goreng dengan telur ayam orak-arik ditambah sayur kol dan mentimun. Bagi orang yang baru pertama kali mencoba mie dari olahan ketela, pasti akan terasa aneh dan agak hambar di lidah. Sepertinya ketela memang susah diolah dan harus mencari-cari bumbu yang pas agar rasa asli dari ketelanya tidak terlalu mendominasi. Bagi saya, Mie Des ini cukup enak dan nyaman dilidah dibandingkan rasa asli ketelanya. Jadi perjalanan saya yang cukup jauh *sekitar 1 jam bolak-balik* tidak sia-sia karena saya akhirnya dapat mencicipi makanan khas ini :)

Cloud Atlas merupakan film bertema science-drama yang mengambil rentang waktu dari mulai tahun 1849 sampai dengan ke masa depan setelah tahun 2144. Merupakan proyek film independen negara jerman yang pertama digarap oleh 3 sutradara yang bekerja dalam satu tim mengarahkan pemain dan para kru, yaitu Lana dan Andy Wachikowski serta Tom Tykwer. Diangkat dari novel British berjudul sama karangan David Mitchell.

Sama halnya dengan Warm Bodies, saya sendiri sebagai penonton juga belum pernah membaca buku Cloud Atlas *Even, this is the first time I hear that there's a book with a name "Cloud Atlas"* Oh ya...saya juga melihat trailer ini film sebelum nonton Warm Bodies loh...:D

Film ini sendiri sudah tayang di Amerika sana bulan Oktober 2012, tapi sayangnya di Indonesia belum diputar sama sekali. Lalu bagaimana saya sendiri dapat menonton film ini ? *hehehe...* Saya akhirnya mengandalkan mesin pencari bernama Internet :D

Well...here we go, oh wait! *...umm...I think what I'm about to tell next will contain a little bit spoiler, so if you hate spoiler, don't continue reading this post ! Just watch the movie !*

Cloud Atlas bercerita tentang 6 kehidupan yang saling berkaitan sebab dan akibatnya pada masa lalu, masa sekarang, dan masa depan. Dalam film ini, secara tidak langsung mengenalkan penonton pada konsep reinkarnasi dan rebirth *jangan salah...kedua konsep itu berbeda loh...* 

Kalau menurut Saya sendiri,  setiap pribadi yang ada akan terlahir lagi kedalam bentuk fisik yang kurang lebih sama, namun jiwa mereka tidak sama dengan kehidupan sebelumnya *mungkin disinilah letak konsep rebirth...* Terlihat seperti reinkarnasi, karena unsur karma juga dimasukkan. Yaitu ketika individu sebelumnya berbuat jahat pada situasi tertentu, individu berikutnya yang di rebirth akan mengalami karma dari perbuatan jahatnya pada kehidupan sebelumnya pada situasi yang sama. Tapi kalau reinkarnasi, individu memiliki beberapa ingatan tentang hidupnya sebelumnya. Sedangkan dalam film ini, masing-masing individu tidak mengingat apapun tentang kehidupan terdahulunya *so, i think this is rebirth*

Namun saya mengakui kalau saya sendiri kurang paham mengenai reinkarnasi, apalagi buddhisme dan hinduisme. Jadi saya menjelaskannya berdasarkan pemahaman nalar saya ketika menonton film ini. Kalau ada yang ingin mengetahui lebih dalam, feel free to lookout and search until you get the right thing :)

Rasa-rasanya durasi film ini panjang sekali *maklumlah tokohnya aja banyak, otomatisnya ceritanya juga banyak*. Setengah jam pertama menonton film ini, mungkin banyak yang tidak mengerti dan akhirnya merasa bosan. Mungkin kebanyakan orang uda menganggap film ini benar-benar membosankan "distop ajalah". Mana ceritanya longkap-longkap dan scene-nya bergonta-ganti dari satu pribadi ke pribadi lain :( 

Pada awalnya orang-orang yang ada dalam film ini terlihat tidak berhubungan tetapi ketika kita sudah mengarah ke akhir cerita, kita akan mengerti kalau suatu peristiwa merupakan hasil dari banyak tindakan beberapa orang walaupun orang-orang tersebut tidak mengenal satu sama lain *apalagi dengan rentang waktu yang berbeda*. 

Pengertian kasar saya adalah "sebab-akibat" bertindak seperti lingkaran yang saling berhubungan, kehidupan akan terus berulang, tetapi waktu-waktunya tidak ada yang sama persis karena tindakan yang dihasilkan juga berbeda-beda.Saya menganggap bahwa kesatuan cerita yang ada dalam film ini adalah satu kesatuan tetapi memiliki dimensi-dimensi yang berbeda-beda (past, present, future). Satu tindakan akan menghasilkan banyak tindakan dan akan terus berlanjut seperti itu sampai akhirnya hal yang tragis terjadi pada manusia. Yaitu bumi sudah hancur dan tidak dapat ditinggali oleh manusia. Pada akhirnya manusia harus mengungsi ke planet lain dan meninggalkan kampung halamannya yang tercinta.

So, kehidupan memiliki dimensi-dimensi yang berbeda, tetapi yang dijalani setiap individu adalah one at a time, makanya dalam film ini ngga ada ngungkit-ngungkit mesin waktu tuh... Karena setiap orang cuman bisa menjalani satu hidup pada tiap waktu *ya kalau ditambahin mesin waktu jadinya absurd dung...*

My first attention for the cast was go to Hae Ju and Sonmi :) 

I think they make a perfect couple, too bad they have a tragic ending. But they died with what they believe...to finally tell the truth...because this world have an ugly side *hell...it's not even ugly, it's worse* 

They think people should not living like this, that kind of living is what makes the world and mankind collapse.

Hae Ju was played by Jim Sturgess (a british actor) and Sonmi itself was played by Baedonna (a korean actress). 

Here's the funny thing, the movie, in the future time, take place in Korea. So, Jim have to be make over and make up that he can look alike a Korean :D

Actually, his look was very weird *with the korean look alike* but somehow I found he was way more handsome than before. Hahaha... and his character was very romantic, the best quote from Him was "I will not let you go away again"...*oh, so romantic ... :D

Baiklah, saya sudah ngomong panjang lebar, sampai diakhir-akhir malah berubah jadi bahasa Inggris nih *hahahahaha*....

Silakan tonton saja filmnya yaa, good day, people *munch...

Shoe Obsession [Mode]

Sore ini saya dan teman pergi ke Matahari Department Store...*berhubung sekarang sedang musim hujan dan stock underwear saya dah mau abis*, jadinya saya berencana untuk beli beberapa underwear nich. Terus ketika saya melewati bagian sepatu-sepatu, ternyata Fladeo lagi pada diskon *waahhh...wink...wink...* --> All Shoes, One Price boo...

Tetapi "One Price"-nya ada dua macam yaitu 99rb dan 150rb. Jadilah saya berkeliling ngeliatin sepatu-sepatu itu *sebenarnya ngga ada rencana juga untuk beli sepatu sich...mengingat rencana awal saya itu mau beli underwear. hahahaha . Awalnya sempet ngga nyadar juga ada promosi gitu*

Lalu kemudian saya menjatuhkan pilihan pada ini nich: 

Wedges - Beige Color - Fladeo

Very nice wedges, hak warna hitam, tinggi sekitar 8 cm *sebenarnya blum pernah makai sepatu setinggi itu sich, tp berhubung saya belum pernah punya heels ga papa lah sekali-kali makai* 

Sepertinya cocok untuk dibawa jalan santai, formal, ataupun acara pernikahan sekalipun. I think this is a good infestation and the price itself is a good deal for me, only 99rb from the actual price 199rb. But I don't know if the actual price are the real price or not because sometimes u can't really count on the word "discount" or "promotion".

Tapi ada satu sepatu yang paling menarik perhatian saya banget, secara tidak sengaja saya temukan diantara tumpukan sepatu yang lain dan sayangnya tidak didiskon *sigh...*

Sepatu diatas ini adalah salah satu godaan yang hampir tidak bisa saya tolak. Walaupun akhirnya bisa saya hindari karena mengingat harganya yang tidak bagus *300rb...oh, tidak!!!* Mungkin kalau difoto terlihat biasa saja, tapi sejak dulu saya sudah mencari sepatu dengan model dan hak yang seperti itu. *ugh...mengapa sekalinya muncul harganya mahal sekali :(*

Pada akhirnya, saya hanya mampu membawa pulang pilihan yang pertama saja, well..mungkin pilihan pertama selalu yang terbaik :)
